Liposuction

Liposuction is the actual vacuum suction  removal of fatty tissue deposits.  It is performed for the shaping and contouring of an area that is usually more prone to increase fatty tissue deposition. A small suction device is placed through an incision in the skin, and vigorously manipulated into the subcutaneous fatty deposits.  It is a method to help enhance spot fatty removal, or fat contouring.  It has a risk of bleeding post operatively usually from disruption of the small arteriolar network that occurs in the fatty tissue deposits. In some people this network is more complex and can lead to more pronounced blood loss. It is important to have this procedure done by an experienced physician, with in an operating suite environment.  This procedure should be performed in the physicians surgery center suite or in the hospital setting.
