Ear Pinning
( Otoplasty )
Otoplasty is the the surgical correction of
protruding ears. The procedure is performed to place them
is a more desirable normal position. The procedure usually takes
1-2 hours and is usually performed under local anesthesia and
I.V. sedation. Younger patients often require complete
general anesthesia. The procedure is done through a small
incision behind the ear where a small segment of skin is removed
as well as some cartilage. Patients are usually able to
resume normal non strenuous activities within 3-5
days.
