Calf Implant
Surgery

General anesthesia is most commonly used during placement of
calf implants.
The surgery takes approximately two hours. Silicone
semisolid implants are place in the calf of each leg.
Incisions are usually placed in a inconspicuous place
behind the knee
It will be painful to walk for about 2-4 days.
Pain after implant surgery controlled with medication. Swelling is moderate for the first week,
then gradually resolves.
Mild bruising usually occurs and may cause pooling of
the bruise in the lower leg.
Most patients can resume very light walking and activities
after the the first week following calf implant surgery.
Patients usually want to plan at least one week off work.
